Sitnichuk S.S. Integrative matrix model for the development of professional competence of future physical education teachers in the regional educational space. Pedagogical Review. 2026. Issue 5 (69). P. 88-97

The article substantiates the integrative matrix model for the development of professional competence of future physical education teachers in the regional educational space. The relevance of the study is determined by the need to coordinate the requirements of higher pedagogical education, the regional social demand, practice-based training, and contemporary digital tools supporting students’ professional formation. The aim of the study is to reveal the methodological foundations, structure, and functional potential of the integrative matrix model for the development of professional competence of a future physical education teacher. The research material includes the Federal State Educational Standard of Higher Education for the programme 44.03.05 Pedagogical Education (with two specializations), the professional standard for teachers, publications on the competence approach, matrix modelling of pedagogical objects, the regional educational space, and the professional training of future physical education teachers, as well as the author’s previous works on professional competence and on the use of artificial intelligence tools in theoretical training. The study applies theoretical analysis, comparison, pedagogical modelling, structural and functional interpretation, generalization, and design. It is demonstrated that the integrative matrix model makes it possible to describe the development of professional competence as a coordinated advancement across four components — value and self-regulatory, cognitive and prognostic, communicative and creative, and sensory and analytical — at the basic, functional, productive, and creative levels. The paper shows that the regional educational space is not merely a contextual background but a meaningful resource for professional formation, since it ensures variability of professional trials, network cooperation, mentoring support, and the student’s immersion into the real context of physical education teaching. The theoretical significance of the study is connected with clarifying the possibilities of matrix modelling in the training of future physical education teachers. The practical significance lies in the possibility of applying the model to educational programme design, practice-based training, assessment of the level of professional competence formation, and construction of individual educational routes for students.

Keywords: integrative matrix model, professional competence, future physical education teachers, regional educational space, pedagogical modelling, practice-based training, mentoring
