Chukhin S.G. Civil traditions as a factor in the formation of Russian civic identity of schoolchildren in modern socio-cultural conditions. Pedagogical Review. 2026. Issue 5 (69). P. 7-15

In our study, civic traditions are viewed not as a passive legacy of the past, but as a methodological resource for shaping schoolchildren’s Russian civic identity through everyday school life. The premise of our study is that the study and practical application of methods for reconstructing Russian civic traditions, including the reconstruction of values, images of heroes, and memorable events, can become a pedagogical tool for creating a special school environment that helps schoolchildren address the challenges of civic self-determination: understanding themselves and their roots, finding like-minded people, finding life guidelines, and developing students’ ability to take responsibility for their civic choices. Therefore, integrating civic traditions into the school environment through their reflective understanding by participants in educational relationships is a prerequisite for nurturing responsible citizens and patriots, enabling modern schools to adequately respond to the challenges of the digital age and preserve the continuity of civic traditions while fostering intergenerational dialogue between children and adults. The aim of the study is to identify and theoretically substantiate the essence, structure and content of the identification potential of civic traditions of Russian society. The results of this work will allow for the reconstruction of these traditions in the space of the school system using hermeneutic practices. The novelty of the study lies in the identification and theoretical substantiation of the role of civic traditions as the basis for the formation of Russian civic identity of schoolchildren. The scientific significance of the work lies in the systematization of knowledge about traditional values in pedagogy and the development of a procedural and technological model of this process. The model is implemented through a commemorative reconstruction of traditions using hermeneutic practices in the space of the school system. The practical significance of the study is determined by the possibility of applying its results in solving practical problems of civic education of schoolchildren. For example, the results can be useful to deputy directors of schools for educational work in the design and organization of the educational system of an educational institution, as well as to class teachers in their professional activities to form personal results of the Federal State Educational Standard of General Education in the process of teaching a specialized academic subject; Advisors to the director for education and interaction with children’s public associations in organizing educational work at a general education institution; teachers of additional education in organizing educational work during the implementation of additional general education programs in the field of additional education; counselors in organizing educational work at children’s health and school camps.
