The characteristic of the main trends that distinguish the development of vocational training in social work in Vietnam is given. The integration of Vietnam into the educational space of Asia has led to the intensification of international cooperation between domestic higher education institutions and foreign ones in the implementation of various types of educational activities, one of which is the training of social workers. An important area of effective cooperation is a comparative study of this experience, its focus on enriching pedagogical theory with innovative ideas and concepts, identifying opportunities for creative use of constructive ideas of foreign experience in the education of Vietnam. In recent years, Vietnam has increased attention to the study of various aspects of modernization of education. A positive development is the training of many lecturers and young scientists abroad. It is also commendable that some of them undergo training in the field of social work. The main substantive characteristics of vocational training in social work in Vietnam are described, which was considered as a complex socio-historical phenomenon, a systematic pedagogical process with a dialectic of formation and development in public life and educational activities, its own educational-theoretical and practical concepts, socialmotivational and pedagogical conditionality, as well as the corresponding structure: purpose, objectives, content, implementation technology, quality assessment, general sociopedagogical mechanisms of effective functioning.
