The most important components of the creative process of students learning a foreign language are creativity and creative thinking, which are implemented when solving non-standard situations, allowing them to search for an answer to one problem in many directions at once. In the last five to ten years, there has been a rethinking of the importance of developing creative thinking and creativity skills. The active development of artificial intelligence indisputably points to future changes in the labor market, forcing us to reconsider the role of professions, including those that rely on the creative component of human potential. The main task today is to understand how to develop creativity and flexible creative thinking without losing concentration when the media is full of short, rapidly changing pieces of information. That is why we believe that studying the connection between creativity and attention is of particular value for further study. The relevance of the topic is emphasized by the fact that it affects the student age. Creativity acts here as a double resource: it contributes to the comprehensive development of personality and at the same time is an integral component of future professional activity, significantly increasing the chances of success in a career. The results of the study show the key relationships between stability and selectivity of attention with various aspects of creativity and emotionality. The data obtained indicate that the stability and selectivity of attention among students learning a foreign language have a strong negative correlation with creative thinking in ideal perception (“I am perfect”), i.e. respondents demonstrating lower creative thinking have higher stability and selectivity of attention. The ability to focus on a task is inversely related to the idea of one’s own creative creativity. The practical significance lies in the possibility of using the research materials in advisory work to improve cognitive skills and increase the level of creativity of students learning a foreign language. The results of the study can also be used to create group trainings aimed at simultaneously developing attention and creative thinking, which can be especially useful in an educational and corporate context.

Keywords: creative thinking, creativity, attention, creative potential of personality, students studying a foreign language
