The school way of life: clarifying the concept and problematizing in the context of digital transformation of education
DOI: 10.23951/2307-6127-2026-4-170-180
The relevance of the study is associated with the need to rethink the school way of life in the context of digital transformation in recent years. The article presents an analysis of the concept of "school way of life", as well as an analysis of the categories "educational environment" and "school climate", and draws a conclusion about the similarities and differences of these concepts. The components of the structure of the school way of life are analyzed based on the study of a number of recent publications. A refined definition of the concept of "school way of life" is proposed as a stable system of values manifested through everyday norms, rules, rituals and traditions accepted and shared by all subjects of the school community, as well as a system and image of interaction between subjects of educational activity, including formal and informal communication. A comparative table of concepts is presented: school culture, school climate, and school educational environment. Different types of school cultures are identified, which determine different approaches to education and the organization of educational practices in a general education school. Different components of the school culture are identified, which are related to the system of shared values and rules, the spatial organization of the school premises, the methods of communication between participants in the educational process, the didactic approaches to the learning process, and the foundations for a productive and systematic organization of educational work. Special attention is paid to the issues of digital transformation of the school. A review of statistical data presented by the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation and analytical reports of the Higher School of Economics, as well as scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, is carried out. It is concluded that most of the publications keep the focus of research on the development of digital infrastructure, management of the digital transformation process, as well as on the impact of digital transformation on learning. However, the problems of the impact of digital transformation of the school on educational practices and the school way of life remain outside the focus of research. The problem of changes in the traditional understanding of the school way of life under the influence of digital transformation is formulated, and promising areas of research are identified: the connection and continuity of the traditional school way of life and the digital way of life, the definition of the concept of digital way of life, the emergence of new traditions and values under the influence of the digital way of life.
