1 | The article presents and illustrates the main elements and stages of development and formation of domestic engineering education. The history of formation of higher educational institutions of Russia is briefly covered. The conclusions are drawn that with the development of the machine industry engineering and technical activities developed rapidly, which, in turn, revealed the need for training of specialists of the corresponding profile. Requirements of new paradigms of engineering education are presented. The question of the quality of engineering education in Russia in terms of the transfer of higher education to the Bologna system and the prospects of engineering education in the current situation. Methods, rationality, strategic lines of improvement of quality of engineering education of a technical profile are revealed. The author reveals the prerequisites for the emergence of engineering education in Russia, which can be divided into economic and historical. Today, several groups of leading technical universities aimed at modernization of engineering education have been formed in the structure of Russian universities. As a result, it can be stated that the condition for successful implementation of the innovative project in the field of engineering education should be an effective modernization of Russian education, taking into account the national specifics, the best academic traditions and current world trends. 2 | One of the practiced interactive methods of teaching, which is able to give students the necessary practical knowledge, is the so-called “method of cases” or the method of specific situations, which will be discussed in this work. This method, due to its universality, is used in various areas of training of students in the educational process of higher education institutions and contributes to the formation of professional competencies. The paper disclosed the method of preparation and conduct of cases aimed at the professional activity of future geologists. The paper describes the main objectives of the case study, its structure and practical implementation, combining pedagogical goals and integrated capabilities of the University and oil and gas companies with the implementation of targets at each stage of training of students-geologists. The article presents the personal experience of training using the method of specific situations, which shows the specifics of the enterprise engaged in a complex of exploration – exploration drilling and accordingly provides some experience for students in the field of training “Applied Geology” Tyumen Industrial University. The practical significance of the work lies in the fact that the proposed case studies can be used in the training of student geologists in other higher education institutions. 3 | In the work briefly deals with the concept of “professional development», which involves a professional choice, a line of career, features of professional behaviour at work, professional achievements, satisfaction from the process and results of labor, efficiency of educational behavior of personality change or stability of the workplace, the profession. The article reveals the process of expanding the professional and personal development of students studying for a master’s degree, which ensures a high level of professional productivity in the future. On the basis of empirical research, the subjective motives of admission and difficulties encountered on the way of undergraduates were determined. Therefore, master’s degree training should be focused not only on the formation of the readiness of undergraduates of a technical University for professional activity, but also on the training of a highly qualified specialist with developed personal qualities. As a result, it turned out that successful learning requires a productive relationship and constructive communication between the teacher and the student. For undergraduates, the teacher should pay more attention to undergraduates who come from other areas of training, organize additional consultations for them as an individualized form of acquiring knowledge and experience, and constructively use the hours allocated for independent work to organize cooperation with students. 4 | In technical universities, the main source of replenishment of the teaching staff are students of this university. The issue of attracting students to scientific and scientific-pedagogical activities is relevant today. The author of the article believes that the initial stage of motivation and solving the problem with teaching staff is pedagogical practice. It is the pedagogical practice of undergraduates within the walls of an engineering university that contributes to the individual choice of a further profession, ensures the motivated involvement of students in the cognitive sphere, in the structure of both general and pedagogical education. The purpose of the article is to reveal the essence of pedagogical practice of undergraduates as an initial path for the development and formation of professional pedagogical activity of a future teacher. The scientific novelty consists in substantiating the role of pedagogical practice as the most important factor in the pre-training of pedagogical personnel. The author concludes that in order to successfully solve the problems of training pedagogical personnel in technical universities through master’s education, it is necessary: to attract undergraduate students (starting from the first courses) for professional and pedagogical training, with admission to the master’s degree; to develop an engineering core of academic disciplines, the structure of which should include pedagogical disciplines and pedagogical practice in order to motivate pedagogical activity; development of an intra-university program of step-by-step selection and training of young teachers from among undergraduates for professional and pedagogical activity and their further professional development; creation of comfortable organizational and pedagogical conditions and incentives for undergraduates to receive professional and pedagogical training.
