Shmat’ko S.V. PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL SELF-DETERMINATION OF SENIOR PUPILS IN PEDAGOGICS PROFILE CLASSES: HISTORICAL REVIEW // Pedagogical Review. 2017. Issue 2 (16). P. 157-163

The results of the research on the professional and personal self-determination of teenagers in pedagogical classes in pre-revolutionary and modern Tomsk are presented in the article. It is determined that the subject of self-determination has not been fully examined in scientific and methodical literature: the interest in professional determination prevails over the personal one. The elimination of this gap in studying the historical experience allowed us to establish specific character of correlation of the personal and professional self-determination in students training, to show the defining educational effects for children staying in pedagogical classes and to track the influence of training on their adulthood. It appeared, that the process of professional self-determination in teaching classes accompanied improvement of effectiveness of “self-determination” process which is typical of adolescence. It is important that the indispensable success of personal self-determination in pedagogical classes was not the main reason for selecting the teacher’s career. This rejection of the teaching profession, which student do not find appealing, should not be considered as a less useful result than the entering the pedagogical university by the applicant. Finally, according to the analysis of the interviews of teachers and graduates of pedagogical classes in Tomsk it turned possible to show the leading educational effects of students’ staying in these educational structures and to trace the impact of the pre-service teacher training in their adulthood.

True development of personality is associated with the departure from adaptability as an adaptation in an externally determined reality to the preadaptive nature of activity. Preadaptive allows shaping properties of the individual that facilitates the passage of crisis situations. The preadaptive strategy for the building of meanings of life activity is based on the desire for selftranscendence as a way to go beyond the boundaries of what a person has mastered in order to find and realize his true purpose. For real personal growth, the prospect of further development is necessary , which means a transition from self-actualization to self-transcendence, which allows you to interact with the extra-positive reality on the basis of the highest meaning plans of human existence in the world. The purpose of the article is to identify the features of selftranscendence, which is the basis of the preadaptive strategy of meaning building. Analysis of such features of self-transcendence as: the ability to overcome the experience of the finiteness of his existence; the experience of insight; initiating the activity of a socially significant act; the preservation of subjectivity; the ability to positively undergo existential crises; a tolerance for ambiguity; creativity; responsibility in search for his own destiny. The results obtained allow us to formulate a definition of a preadaptive meaning-forming strategy.

The authors have developed and tested Russian-language version of the questionnaire “Psychological Capital” (“PsyCap”) for use in higher education. This questionnaire was developed and based on the F. Lutans, K. Joseph and B. Avolio questionnaire. They created it for the needs of organizational psychology. B. Lutans, K. Lutans and S. Jensen modified it for the field of education. Psychological capital includes four parameters: self–efficacy (confidence in the successful achievement of goals and in solving problems); hope (the ability to redirect ways to achieve goals); optimism (is a positive attitude to success); resilience (is the ability to withstand difficulties). “PsyCap” questionnaires in various modifications (“PsyCap-24”, “PsyCap-12”) are widely used in modern psychology. There is no translation and adaptation of this questionnaire in Russian psychology, especially for the needs of higher education. It determined the relevance and purpose of this study. There are 130 students – future psychologists of Cherepovets State University took part in the survey. The authors checked their questionnaire and determinate it is reliability and validity. They do it by splitting the test into two parts. Authors use Cronbach’s alpha coefficient to check the internal consistency of each scale of the questionnaire, and the generalized indicator with all scales. Authors verify empirical validity by comparing the scales of the questionnaire with the results obtained using other known psychology tests. As a result, authors concluded that other researchers can use that questionnaire in the field of higher education to diagnose the psychological capital of students.

Ozhiganova G.V. SELF-DEVELOPMENT, ABILITY FOR SELF-DEVELOPMENT AND HIGHER ABILITY FOR SELF-DEVELOPMENT // Pedagogical Review. 2021. Issue 6 (40). P. 190-198

The article analyzes the concept of “self-development” and the personality abilities associated with it from a psychological point of view. The purpose of the research is to consider the concept of “self-development”, as well as “the ability for self-development”, “the highest ability for self-development” and identify the difference between these abilities. In the course of the analysis the concept of self-development is described, its various characteristics and parameters are revealed. The article presents definitions of the ability for self-development, covering its different aspects, such as systemic, integrative, subjective, activity-oriented, life-oriented, transformative, motivational-value, evaluative-orientational, self-regulatory, reflexive-regulatory, cognitive. It is shown that there is no single concept of self-development. Some concepts emphasize the role of cognitive factors, while others give priority to self-regulatory skills; subject position; transformation of the inner world; specific activity for self-change, aimed at solving life problems. It is concluded that the variety of factors contributing to self-development, the identification of many its aspects and components, various forms of manifestation seems to be logical, since it reflects the complexity and multidimensionality of this psychological phenomenon. A special place in the article is occupied by the description of subjectiveness, which is interpreted by the author as one of the key factors determining self-development. The important role of the position of the subject and subjectiveness in self-development and its importance for the manifestation of the highest ability for self-development, when a person acts as a subject of activity, as a subject of development, and as a subject of life, is emphasized. The specificity of the highest ability for self-development is noted, associated with its belonging to the mental component of spiritual abilities. The difference between the ordinary ability for self-development and the higher ability for self-development is shown, which is due to the fact that the highest ability for self-development is focused on absolute values and high spiritual and moral ideals.

The article considers the process of students’ critical thinking development through the English language resources. The authors highlight the importance of English in the developing of students’ universal competencies and their adaption to the current professional requirements. The article outlines the essential critical thinking skills that allow students to comprehend the received material, break down the material into its constituent parts, to distinguish relevant information from extraneous material, to synthesize, to infer and evaluate it. The educational foreign-language text is used as a means of students’ critical thinking development. The authors emphasize the text’s multifunction nature and its contribution into enhancement of students’ thinking activity. Despite the teachers’ keen interest in the process of critical thinking developing some authors prove the lack of methods and techniques promoting its growth. The article gives an overview of Bloom’s taxonomy and outlines its application in the educational process. The taxonomy is widely used to set educational objectives, to formulate motivating exercises and monitor headway in knowledge and skills developing. The study shows that not all textbooks and tasks are intended to enhance critical thinking skills. So, the authors analyzed their English textbook and changed their approach to work with the texts. The article describes the experience proving that new challenging tasks help students comprehend the received information, distinguish relevant facts, summarize and learn to evaluate.

Ershova T.V., Petrova E.Y. MODERN SCHOOL GEOGRAPHY TEXTBOOKS: PROS, CONS AND WAYS OF MODERNIZATION // Pedagogical Review. 2020. Issue 5 (33). P. 30-40

A critical analysis of modern school textbooks on geography is given in the article. The analysis is related to the compliance of the Federal state educational standard of basic General education with the following requirements: methodological, psychological, aesthetic and hygienic. The presented positive aspects of geography textbooks were identified: wellbuilt methodological apparatus; colorful design, the presence of maps, schemes, diagrams, drawings; a system of questions and tasks aimed at organizing independent cognitive activity of pupils through the use of research methods; integration of physical-geographical and economic-geographical branches of geography. The authors of the article revealed the given below negative points in geography textbooks: simplification of scientific geographical information; insufficient description of physical-geographical processes in solving practical problems; lack of connection between the simplified theory of initial courses of geography and practical tasks that are given in Russian exams (the Basic State Exam and the Unified State Exam) in geography; incomplete reflection of the local history approach. Specific examples from existing geography textbooks were provided to confirm the established disadvantages. The national project «Digital school» was reviewed. This project suggests using geography textbooks in the educational process together with other teaching tools, including digital ones. Thus, the geography textbook plays an essential role in shaping the geographical outlook of pupils. A school in this case provides a “meeting” between adults and children that allows revealing the values and spirit of different generations. The following conclusion about interaction between a family and a school is made: it is a creative process of finding the meaning of teaching by both pedagogues and parents, where the modus of their co-existence is based on responsibility for the crucial period in children’s lives and for the process and result of their personalities shaping. Pavlyukova O.E., Tsarev V.N., Kayumova E.A. THE ISSUE OF CREATION OF ARTISTIC IMAGE IN MUSIC PEDAGOGY OF A VOCALIST // Pedagogical Review. 2017. Issue 3 (17). P. 78-83

Specific nature of creation of an artistic image in vocal variety piece has many common features with that of other art forms. This specific nature implies the presence of two aspects: creative, that influence creative abilities of a performer and technical, caused by practical skills in sound performance. Nevertheless, according to musicologists, both creative and technical aspects are in main focus of the activities aimed at the creation of the artistic image, which is preceded by the preparatory, as well as the final stages afterwards. At the same time, the main difficulty in creating of a musical-verbal image in a vocal work is in the multitasking of the actions performed by the artist. In addition to direct technical, intonationally competent performance, the singer must constantly reflect-analyze his activities on the stage and, if necessary, change it, sometimes depending on the reaction of the viewer. In this regard, the pedagogical experience of the step-by-step creation of the artistic image of the vocal piece in work with children in children’s art school was analyzed. A set of methods that develop performing techniques has been developed and tested, including working with the text of a piece, teaching the basics of acting skills. Examples of exercises for the development of the singing voice, for expanding the vocal range, improving the timbre, rhythm, and dynamics of vocal performance are given. The results of the methodology and testing can be of interest for teachers in the vocal class.

Smagulov M.K. SPORT AS A FACTOR IN THE FORMATION OF THE YOUNGER GENERATION MORALITY AND PERSONAL QUALITIES // Pedagogical Review. 2019. Issue 2 (24). P. 123-129

The absence of a modern, adequate, well-built pedagogical system does not allow us to form the necessary level of education in our society. The results of the conducted studies revealed the following: the family institute loses its value in the minds of people, childhood alcoholism and drug addiction are at a high level, “an easy and beautiful life” is a subject for imitation for many adolescents. In such a situation, it is necessary to seek a means that can stop a negative trend. The article suggests using sports as a means that can raise the level of upbringing and form the right values in people. The role of sport in the life of society is difficult to overestimate, it performs many functions that affect the state of society as a whole. But this influence is not built systematically, so the negative typos sport also leaves. In general, the process of education is spontaneous, therefore, as a result, we are less likely to graduate from children’s sports school with a high level of education. For the most effective impact of sports on people’s lives, it is necessary to methodically build the entire educational process, then as a result we will receive a larger number of people with a high level of upbringing.

Semenkina I.A., Pavlova T.A. THE FUTURE OF HIGHER EDUCATION FORMATS FROM THE FACULTY VIEWPOINT // Pedagogical Review. 2022. Issue 4 (44). P. 91-106

A survey of university teachers (130 people) from various study areas was conducted to identify the prevailing attitudes and judgments about the implementation and prospects for the development of various formats of higher education in an unstable epidemiological situation and changing socioeconomic conditions. The authors attempted to analyze the factors that determined the survey results and the challenges of creating conditions ensuring the optimal implementation of various formats in a modern university. The successful experience of the university faculty in a number of projects in the development of the digital educational environment at the international and all-Russian level is described. Inferior learning outcomes in the online format in comparison with face-to-face and blended format were reported by the respondents. The survey revealed an optimistic view of the teaching community regarding the prospects for the development of a blended format. Blended and face-to-face formats were preferred by the majority of respondents, regardless of their teaching experience at the university. Questions about the level of online education, effective tools for assessing its quality, measures to encourage online work turned out to be the most “sensitive”, which was reflected in the significant proportion of evasive answer to the above questions. Higher education ecosystems often lack professionals specializing in instructional design, data analysis, educational program development, educational technologies, etc., which adversely affects the quality of educational products.
